    Distance Learning Update

    Dear Parents,

I hope this letter finds you well and that you had an enjoyable Spring Break with your family.  We resumed school this week (April 20th), and students are expected to be engaged in learning on a daily basis. We understand that there are unexpected stresses at home and know that your children will do their best, given everyone’s unique circumstances, to access work each week. Please make sure to check the district website, http://www.santapaulaunified.org for the latest news regarding distance learning.

Each Monday, teachers will be posting assignments on Google Classroom, as well as office hours during which time teachers can be reached by phone. If you or your student need assistance, please call the school and dial the extension to be connected to your high schooler’s teacher, counselor or other staff member. Google Classroom can be accessed through Chromebooks, laptops, personal computers, iPads, and smartphones using the student log-in information. For families that do not have a working device at home, please email me at egarcia@santapaulaunified.org or cdiaz@santapaulaunified.org and we will arrange by appointment to issue a Chromebook.

Teachers are posting work each week and expect that students logon to their Google Classroom where they will post their office hours and assignments for the week. We expect students to work on their assignments for each class, as best as they can. Have them do the best they can to do the work that is posted and know that teachers have prepared lessons and learning activities in their Google Classrooms.

Extensions are listed below. Staff will be answering phones remotely, as they will not be on campus. If the staff member does not answer, please leave a message and they will call you back. We will have interpreters to assist with phone calls. Also beginning Monday, our school office phone will be answered between the hours of 9:00 – 12:00 and 1:00 – 4:00. We will be happy to assist you by phone even though our school offices are closed.  Included with this letter, and posted on our SPHS website, are the extensions and emails of all staff and office personnel. Please know that you can call the school at 805-525-4400 and input the extension of the staff member you are trying to reach.

We issued a survey regarding need for an internet connection. If your high schooler does not have internet access, hot spots are being ordered for those without internet home access. Once hot spots are available, we will reach out with a communication via phone and internet about a distribution date and time.

If your high schooler did not take the survey, please have them take the survey

Please see our school website, http://www.santapaulaunified.org/sphs, for more information. If you have a device and just need log-in information, please have your high schooler reach out to their 3rd period teacher using the phone directory or email.

We understand that distance learning is new and different. However, we must work together to ensure everyone is still learning during this valuable time. We are here to support you. Next week you can expect teachers to be reaching out to you to see how learning is going. Please answer your phone if you see the school’s number (805-525-4400) calling. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us using the phone directory below.

    Stay safe and be well!

    Preparatoria de Santa Paula

    Actualización de aprendizaje a distancia

    Estimados Padres,

    https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1XuyynXU-C85I_KBX-HxTMWb2DXPoQGZN9dGT9XOQFpI/edit#responses
