Christina (Tina) Urias (2012-2016 and 2016-2020) served as the first President of the newly formed Santa Paula Unified School District from December 2012 through December 2013. Prior to unification, Tina served on the Santa Paula Union High School District Governing Board from 2002-2013. She currently serves as a Delegate for the California School Board Association and she is the past president of the Ventura County School Board Association having served in the position from 2016-2019. Tina is also a member of the California Latino School Board Association, the National Association of Latino Elected Officials. She is s a graduate of the California School Board Association’s Masters in Governance Program which is a concentrated program of professional development for school trustees.Tina has lived in Santa Paula since 1971 and is a graduate of Santa Paula Union High School. Tina’s husband Jesse and their son Jesse Ray are also graduates of Santa Paula High School. Tina graduated from California State University Northridge and has worked for the state of California since 1986.
In her community, Tina has served as treasurer of the Santa Paula Latino Town Hall. She is a member of El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church and has served as chairperson for pastor/parish relations and the church and society committee. She was the church’s team captain for several years for the Santa Paula Relay for Life Annual Event. She is currently participating in the Ventura County Women’s Political Council and has served on Ventura County Mental Health Board. Tina is an advocate of celebrating diversity in our community by supporting such programs as dual language immersion and ethnic studies.
