Principal Elizabeth Garcia
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2018-19 school year! Santa Paula High School prides itself in being a place that supports the positive growth of each and every student. We want all students to experience success and to have a purposeful connection to our faculty and staff. Our school will provide both academic and social-emotional supports that our students require as we reach out to support the family unit through academics, sports, community involvement, and extra-curricular activities. Please encourage your son/daughter to get involved and stay connected. We want all parents and guardians to feel supported at the school and encourage parents and guardians to call the school to access resources and to inquire about the progress of your son or daughter. Santa Paula High School has a plethora of academic and behavioral resources to help support students and families. All incoming freshmen will be enrolled in a course entitled, Choices: College & Career that will prepare students for leading a successful and fulfilling life through the thoughtful creation of a ten year plan (http://www.getfocusedstayfocused.org). By the end of their senior year, students will graduate with a complete online ten-year career and life plan.
The Class of 2022 will kick off the third decade of the new millennium. Since unification, there have been significant positive changes to our academic program. We have the most Advanced Placement course offerings than at any other time in our history. We continue to expand our AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program to support students who will be the first in their families to attend college and are aspiring to become a National AVID Demonstration School and Site of Distinction. Our Career Technical Education Pathway & Academy offerings are in place, in the following areas: Agricultural Business, Agricultural Science, Health/Human Services, Health/Patient Care, Engineering, Public Safety and Digital Video and Media Arts. In addition, Ventura College continues to collaborate with us to offer college courses on the high school campus whereby students will receive both high school and college credits. All students have access to wonderful college resources through our College and Career Center and we are privileged to have a partnership with the University of California through the Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) where we carefully monitor students so they stay on the UC/CSU a-g track.
Santa Paula High School has shown a steady growth in academic achievement for the past several years. We are committed to helping students to excel in the 2018-19 school year and will provide additional academic support within the school day for all students who require it. There is no option but to achieve excellence! It is an honor to be a Santa Paula High School Cardinal. I hope that you have enjoyed the time with your family and friends this summer. This year, school registration will take place on August 8th – August 10th, and school will begin on Wednesday, August 15th, 2018. The faculty and staff of Santa Paula High School are committed to high achievement for all students.
