We welcome our Executive Director of Special Education and Student Support Services, Ms. Stephanie Barnes to our District!
Ms. Barnes has served in various coordinator roles at the district office level and as Director of Special Education throughout California. She has managed a wide range of programs including those specific to preschool, therapeutic support, moderate-severe, Autism, co-teaching, and adult transition. Ms. Barnes began her career as a school psychologist and has practiced at the preschool, elementary, and secondary levels. Throughout her career, she has acquired extensive experience with inclusion initiatives, educationally related mental health service delivery, and positive behavioral support program development.
Ms. Barnes earned a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of San Francisco, a Master’s in School Psychology from San Francisco State University, and a Bachelor’s in Political Science from the University of California at San Diego. She also possesses the following credentials: PPS School Psychology, PPS School Counseling, and Administrative Services.

The Santa Paula Unified School District is committed to meeting the unique educational needs of all eligible students with disabilities who reside within district boundaries. The district operates programs for eligible students whose ages range from 3 through 22. Special education programs offered by the district include: Little Tykes Special Education Preschool; Special Day Classes for children with a wide range of needs. Approximately 13% of the district’s students receive assistance from a variety of special education services. All services are designed to meet the individual needs of each student.
